How can you kill off the heroine of a story? It just isn't right! As a matter of fact, it is absolutely heart wrenching! Now that I have watched the Season Finale of Robin Hood Season Two three times (once by myself, once with Mandy, and once with Lesli), I can now say a few words about the matter, knowing that I won't be giving out any spoilers to my wonderful watching companions.
Just as they said, the season finale was a complete shocker. I just knew that someone was going to die, but I didn't believe that it could possibly be Marian, especially since they tried to kill her off at the end of Season One. But of course, she miraculously came back to life and was able to be healed within a matter of a few days and was able to walk down the aisle to marry Guy of Gisborne, who she ended up punching in the face before running after Robin. It was great!
This whole season has been filled with lots and lots of romance, which I consider to be the good stuff. Robin finally proposes and you think that in the end, it will be a "happily ever after," just as it should be. But how can Robin have a "happily ever after" without Marian? It just isn't right.
I know it is pathetic to admit this, but I have seriously been mourning for several days. Deep down inside I am hoping that it was all just a dream, but articles on the Internet are eluding to the possibility that Marian did not renew her contract with Robin Hood so that she could go off and pursue her career in Hollywood. She is a great actress, but Robin Hood needs her! I need her! There is plenty of time for her to pursue her career. She's a young actress. What's the big rush?
In a recent interview when Lucy Griffiths was asked if she was returning for Season 3, she stated, "It’s hard for me to say because I don’t want to give any stories away for the second season. But, anything that may or may not happen would have been a decision made by the producers and myself. Whatever happens is for the good of the show. That’s all I can say."
Now all I can do is wait for Season 3. With any luck I will be in Scotland & Ireland when Season 3 premiers over in the land of BBC. I worked it out that way last year (extending my trip a few days) and was able to see the 1st episode of season 2. But then I had to wait for over 6 months before it premiered in the United States. I will admit, it was quite painful, but well worth the wait.
I guess now I know how everyone else who watches TV feels. There is such a sadness when the season ends and such excitement when the season begins. I guess I'll just have to find another TV show to occupy my time until next year. Or I can just rewatch the episodes a few more times, now that I've got my DVDs.

There is still a pounding in my heart and I am still a little nervous in my stomach just thinking about the fact that Marianne died and that Guy killed her. I might cry again!
So, was whatever happened (her death) good for the show? A Clue . . . No.
It could take only a true fan of Robin Hood to understand your wonderful comments. I am crying and laughing at the same time. Thanks for being my watching buddies. It's been a great few months and I can't wait for Season 3!
Sounds like a great show. I might have to watch it.
