For the past six years, one of the greatest highlights of my year has been attending the annual Pettit family Harry Potter Party. Since I was gone most of the month, I didn't have a lot of time to prepare, but I managed to come up with a costume, which ended up being quite a hit.
My goal was to be able to use my bridesmaid's dress from my sister's wedding. I really want to get as much use out of it as possible so that I get my money's worth. My first idea was to go as Ginny Weasley as a bride's maid from her brother Bill's wedding. My sister was excited that I was going to use my dress again, and she volunteered to come over and do my hair for the party. She brought over a beautiful tiara for my hair, and it occurred to me that I should change my character to Rowena Ravenclaw, who had a diadem, or tiara, which ended up being one of the horcruxes in the book. And since the theme of the party this year was the Deathly Hallows, I thought it would be perfect. And it was.

Ali Cole as Bellatrix Lestrange
Me as Rowena Ravenclaw
Sandra Forsyth as Narcissa Malfoy
We had a delicious pot luck dinner with lots of yummy foods, and then played a couple of games. We were split into two teams of the Death Eaters and The Order of the Phoenix. I was on the Death Eater Team. We first played a game of Mafia, and then we played a trivia game. Thanks to my recent reading of the seventh book, our team was able to win.
The Answer: Mad-Eye Moody
A Triple Tie for Best Female in Costume.
Luna Lovegood, Bellatrix Lestrange & Rowena Ravenclaw
The Harry Potter Gang.
