A Week In Lake Powell

I spent this past week in Lake Powell with some family and friends, and even a few strangers who shortly became friends. There were 28 people on the houseboat, which is about 10 too many people, but we survived and had a great time. Besides the gnats, wood debris in the water, and the restrictions on the toilet use, it was a nice, relaxing week. My book of choice for the vacation was Hood, by Stephen Lawhead. It was a bit different than I expected, but still quite enjoyable.

Me and Mandy being Wild & Crazy!

Me and Mandy taking a nice canoe ride in the lake, attempting
to find some clean water so that we could wash our hair.
We had to travel quite a distance before it really cleared up.

These are the bugs. And this is only one small corner of the boat.
They were EVERYWHERE! Just thinking about them makes me itch!

Here is a visual of what the water looked like from the side of the boat.
Seriously....it was GROSS!

My famous Lake Powell donuts!
Several years ago my friend Cheri introduced my family
to these delightful desserts. And ever since then, I have
been required to make them. They really are tastey!

Ok, I didn't really believe you when you said the bugs were bad, but now I do. Yuck!
